Yamaha direct drive double pedal... Help!

lundi 13 avril 2015

Just picked up a Yamaha Direct drive double pedal a couple if weeks ago and need some input or advice on an issue with it. This is the first direct drive I've owned and I'm not sure if it's the pedal or if I'm just accustom to chain drives that I've always used but These pedals seem to be VERY light in their action and I'm not able to get that "whiplash" power from them that I'm used to.

I've adjusted the springs all the way out to increase the tension, I've adjusted the footboards, the beater lengths and beater angles.

Nothing seems to work and they still seem to be very light and feathery ( if that's a word.) its really affecting my footwork and playing to the point of throwing off timing since it's so light. I thought about adding a beater weight to each beater to maybe weigh them down somewhat but other than that, what's your advise?

The one I tried out in the drum shop felt great, ( maybe it was broken in?) and didn't feel this light. Are there any more adjustments I can make or maybe stiffer springs I can add?.. Thanks for your input!
