Further to my earlier introductory thread I started out with my RealFeel practice pad and Vic Firth 5A's yesterday and decided to put stick to pad.
I've found a dizzying amount of tutorial videos on sites such as this, YouTube and from Google that it's almost tricky to know where to start.
When I get back to the UK I will seek out a tutor and have some one-to-one instruction.
In the meantime I came across a guy called Mark Wessels on the Vic Firth education page and he seemed to offer some good advice on this video:

I followed his advice on the grip (matched) and set about having a go at the rebound stroke which I thought I'd master prior to going onto the single stroke roll.
I then thought what the heck, I'll video myself playing and see what I could learn. Needless to say it didn't look good. However, after a half hour or so of trying, things seemed to get better.
Here's a minute or two of the edited "highlights". See what you think. How am I doing? What looks wrong to you? Any suggestions as to what I could be doing better to get the rebound stroke mastered? Did I start with the right instructional video? If not is there anything more useful to an old fellow trying to learn late in life?

I'm sure there's many that'll chuckle at me in my drumming helmet making a fool of myself. But hey, I'm having a go! :D Please excuse the "concentration faces".
