Like many drummers out there, finding 'that ride' has always eluded me, I've found individual elements of certain rides that I love but I've got nothing that covers all bases.
I tried setting up with two rides about a month back, and I'm really happy with the results.
I use an 80s 20" K Custom as my main ride, it's like a Jim Gordon ride nice wash but a really strong bell like the Layla album and the Zappa stuff he did. The stick definition is just not quite as dry as I'd like it but I love everything else with it. The other ride is a 20" Meinl Byzance Dry Ride that has a beautiful warm clean and dry stick definition that really cuts but the bell is really disappointing but between the two rides it works and I get the overall sound I'm after.
Does anyone else do the same thing with their setup?
