Hi guys,
I am an intermediate drummer with about 8 years of playing experience. I recently have been trying to move from match grip to traditional, because I enjoy the control I have over my playing (I won't be talked out of trying to move). However, every time I play match grip too long and fast I get a pain in my thumb muscle (left hand) and my ring finger (left hand - I have the stick between my middle finger and my ring finger).
I've concluded I'm probably not using the grip correctly; do any of you have any resources or tips on how to nail the grip and techniques to play double strokes, rolls and rudiments with my left hand in traditional grip. Is this usual for people starting out on this grip?
Would super appreciate any help from drummers that use this grip.
Thanks
