I want to use my acoustic kick drum and trigger electronic kick sounds
using the Roland SPD SX.
I use a Roland RT-10k trigger.
I know that mostly people use triggers on acoustic kicks to enhance the natural kick sound but this is not what I need to do.
We use some very specific electronic kick sounds and some of them really
differ quite a bit from acoustic kick sounds.
I don't want to use a kick trigger pedal.
I wanna use my kick but need to find a way to mute the kick as much as possible without losing too much vibration for the trigger to still work.
I don't think a sound off-pad is any good as it tends to fall off easily and I've used a Mesh head but it didn't last long (yes probably I've used the wrong beater and should've used a plastic one instead of a felt one).
So I will try to mute my kick by stuffing it with pillows or a blanket.
But I want to ask if anyone got experience with this kind of setup. Using acoustic kicks with triggers and muting the acoustic kick sound.
Anyone tried the blanket approach?
Are the other ways that worked?
