Just thought I'd ask here before contacting Yamaha. I'm having an issue with the rim trigger on my xp80 pad. Specifically it's with the trigger segment that is considered the 'rim shot' trigger, I guess you would say. There seems to be a section of it where it registers a softer hit, so the resulting sound is nearly at half volume as opposed to other sections of the trigger.
To describe where it occurs, imagine the the pad as a clockface, with the rom click trigger at the top covering between 10 and 2. That zone triggers perfectly across it's entire zone.
Now the bigger rim shot trigger covers the lower section of the clock. It triggers perfectly from 2 to 5 o'clock, and also from 9 to 10 position. But between that 5 and 9 zone it's picking up a much softer hit and responding with a much lower sound. It makes it very hard to trigger a proper rim shot with my left hand, and I have to try and move my hand around further to reach that 9 o'clock zone.
Just wondering if anyone else has this, or if I might have a fault? Thought it was worth asking first before contacting Yammy.
Thanks heaps.
