Help with thread sizes (mic, cymbal etc.)

I have this practice pad, EQ ARF-7GM

Description says "The 8mm threaded insert makes it mountable to any standard cymbal stand"
But it does not fit on my standard cymbal stand.. (cymbal stand thread-pin is too small) hm

Anyway.. Could I use this adapter to make the pad mountable on a mic stand?
