Hey, I put some thought into it, and what I decided I wanted was an 8 piece kit, and that would basically encompass what I needed for the next millenia. There are a couple problems with this:
1) Most 8 piece kits are double bass drum, so really as far as I'm concerned, they're actually a 7 piece kit with a show offy bass drum.
Actually, that's pretty much the main problem.
What I'm looking for is 3 rack toms, 3 floor toms, 1 kick, 1 (maybe 2 [9-piece]) snare(s). Ideally, the high tom would be about a 12", but 10" wouldn't be bad. Right now I'm using 2 (I think) 18" floor toms, and I really like that dimension. I don't know if 3 18" or 2 18" + 1 20" would be better. Do you guys think I could get enough range out of 3 18s to make it worth having 3? Or would the 20 be necessary to get the motion out of the drums that I'm looking for (I hope you have an idea).
Any suggestions on kits that fall into the ball park? Guitar center found 1 kit that matched this description, with a 10 up top. This kit is located in New Hampshire, and I live in Indiana. They can ship it, but I would really like to try before I buy, although there is a 30 day money back guarantee.
8 piece kits for reasonable prices?
