Hello all. I am not new to music but I am new to drumming. And I am having the time of my life. About a year ago I picked up a used Gretsch set that had some sad Sabian cymbals with it. I decided to get new cymbals and then went into sticker shock ($$$$$$$). So I have gradually and patiently been buying used cymbals. I have turned up some great deals and have a fairly eclectic set/sound now.
So here is my question. I found what appears to be a 1970's or 1980's Zildjian Thin Crash 16" at a pawn shop for $55. It is dirty. I thought it had a lot of oxidation on it but upon closer inspection I realized it was green spray paint. The paint is just in places, not all over, and looks to be very thin. Can this be cleaned off without damaging the cymbal? I can clean the standard dirt and get it to shine again but the paint worries me. Also, it looks to be free of cracks and seems to sound good (to me, at least).
I'm also new to the forum. I searched for a similar thread but could not find one that dealt with removing paint.
