It always seems that on a Friday after my day job working in a prison, rushing to make my Friday night gig in Boston rush hour traffic I tend to play too fast? My bass player is a professor at Berklee and his timing is like a rock. He is able to always bring me back. The problem is my internal metronome is really fighting me. Seems as though I'm really dragging? I look around at the other players and they are just playing the song.
I do practice with a metronome at times at home with no issues. You have any secrets to get you in the right mind set prior to playing the gig.
This isn't always the case, most of the time it's locked in nice and tight.
