OK - so far I've been extremely happy with my chosen USB interface (the four-input Focusrite Scarlett). But I've been wanting to be able to experiment with close-miking everything on the kit and am just going to bite the bullet and get an 8-input box.
I thought I'd stick with the Focusrite brand (guaranteeing that it will work), but Tascam just released (back in October) their US-16x08 interface that says it will accept 16 inputs at the same time! I'm only interested in the 8 XLR inputs, but the price is a lot cheaper than the Focusrite equivalent ($200 less).
Has anyone here tried this box yet? I'm wondering what anyone's first impressions are. Online reviews look good, but I don't think anyone has subjected it to drums. Before I order one it'd be nice if someone here has one and can let me know if there are any pitfalls.
Thanks in advance!
