....who thought velcro was the thing to put on the bottom of pedal plates?
Dumbest idea ever. It's nice that DW has finally seen the light and went back to regular old rubber on the bottom of their bass drum pedal plates, but when I got the DW5500 hi-hat stand, there was still a few bits of velcro on the plate.
I ended up taking them off. It was driving me crazy because if I had to adjust where the hi-hat was, the velcro was so strong it was pulling up the carpet in my practice room. I remember in the late 80s, companies would cover the entire bottom plates with velcro, and this gave me another reason to absolutely hate the heavy-rated hardware, and I played Yamaha 7-series for the next 15 years!
I was surprised DW still uses velcro on their hi-hat pedal plates. Is this another thing to blame on John Goode? I think so.
