Connecting PC to amp or PA for addictive drums

samedi 28 mars 2015

Hello,

I've got a Yamaha dtx522k and for the most part I have it connected to my Win7 laptop so I can use Addictive Drums 2. I've only been able to use headphones but I want to be able to output the sound via speakers in order to jam a bit with some friends. This would be basement/garage jamming - I don't need anything much more powerful than that - if I did then I'd get a real kit.

Connecting the e-drum module to a keyboard amp seems the most common advice I've seen in threads here, and that seems pretty straightforward to me. That said, while I am pretty happy with the feel of playing the Yamaha kit (with the possible exception to me being the responsiveness of the hi-hat and ride) I really don't love the Yamaha drum sounds - particularly the toms - especially since I started using AD2. So I want to hook the laptop up to a speaker system. Am I looking for an amp (again, such as a keyboard amp)? Can I run a cable from the headphone jack on my laptop to an amplifier? Or am I looking for something else?

Thanks!
