Hi all, this is my first post so please bear with me. We have purchased an Alesis DM6 for my 6 year old son for his birthday as he has been asking for a drum kit but we just don't have the space for an acoustic one and this seemed a reasonable to start him on. Dad is also looking forward to this arriving as he dabbled with the drums at school and university many years ago. The main down sides I have read around this kit (apart from its not a Roland mesh head kit) is that it has poor and limited drum sounds and doesn't appear to have any training function like the Rolands which can be connected to PC and used as a training aid via V-Drums Friends Jam kids.
So my questions is in a few parts,
1. Is there a software package available to offer drum training/coaching?
2. Which is the best and easiest to use software to use with the DM6 to give better drum sounds. I did read about issues with midi mapping?
3. What additional cables do I need to connect to the PC? Is it the cable with USB on one end and the "printer cable" style usb on the other?
Many thanks for reading, sorry if these are stupid questions but I really know nothing about these edrums.
