Need Advice using Buttkshaker on my drum throne

I am a real novice when it comes to pro audio gear. I bought one of the aura shakers. It's a 50W @ 4ohms. I mounted it directly under my seat. I am currently powering it with the bass players back up amp. It works pretty good. The band plays loud as hell. Since this is his back up he needs it for gigs. I just purchased a Behringer NU1000 which runs @ 300 @ 4ohm, and comes with a sub crossover. I was told more power is better than less to drive transducers. It's lightweight and price was right. I did notice that the kick mic picks up the bass players signal quite a bit, triggering the shaker as well. I read I believe it was Bermuda who says he runs his BK gated. So I was think of picking up this DBX 266XL 2 CHANNEL COMPRESSOR/LIMITER/NOISE GATE XLR I/O TRS for $50 to add to the chain. Last question is could I just use a basic mic splitter or small little 2 or 4 channel box to run to and from FOH? Thanks
