Hello drummers,
I play drums for about 12 years now and in the last months I focused on multiple foot strokes on the kick drum with heel toe technique. Up to now I can incorporate sixtheenth notes in groups of 2,3 and 4 with my right foot in normal funk grooves (quarter notes =110). I have practiced heel toe technique with bury and unburying the beater. I clearly prefer an open bassdrum sound without any muffeling and thats the reason why I normally can´t/ want to bury the beater. Now when it comes to incorporating the hihat with my left foot (quarter notes or eighths notes) I really have troubles with my body balance.
It seems like it is almost impossible to do multiple footstrokes with heel toe technique while unburying the beater while playing eight notes with left foot?
Do you have some suggestions for me or at least can tell me some drummers who can do this? I think jojo mayer uses all these things but isn´t he normally burying the beater? Excuse me if I am wrong
