At Tony's request, here's a video showing off my favorite pair of Soultone hi hats, which are made at the Masterworks foundry. The top is a brand new 2015 Soultone "Vintage old school 1964" bottom hat used as a top, and the bottom is a 2005 Masterwork "Vintage" series bottom cymbal used as a bottom. So yea 2 bottoms. I love these cymbals so much because they're so high pitched for 14's. I really go for a high pitched sizzle with sloshy hats, and especially a hgigh pitched bark. t in the
I did a comparison video using a matched pair of 1977 New Beats, (top and bottom in correct order) and a pair of 2005 A Customs (top and bottom in correct order) thrown in for reference sake. My New Beats are nowhere near clangy for New Beats. They're pretty mellow actually. Sonically, the A Customs sit right in the middle between the NB's and the ST's
They might not be everyone's cup of tea, but I do dig my hi hats and you know it Daddy-o!
