I pickup a pair at GC last night since I was looking for a heavier stick. I think part of my problem was I was playing with too light a stick - the SP 5AN. I picked up 2 bundles of them several years ago since they were discounted to move at GC and I was looking for "something" else. I think they are a good light stick but I was using them as my main stick to play and to practice with on rubber drum mutes. For me it's turning into a bad idea since my technique is suffering.
I originally went to GC to look for Vater nylon 5Bs since I have the wood tip and like them, but all they had in a very unorganized display case were wood tip.
So I started sorting thru the bundles and found the Vater 1A. I found it's a nice heavier stick cut in 16 3/4 hickory. Seems to be a smidgen smaller in circumference than the Vater 5B but a bit heavier.
Anyone else use the Vater 1As?
