So should you never bounce doubles?

I'm a little confused on this. I've seen some people say to never bounce your doubles always do two strokes and then I've heard other people recommend being able to do both. I've asked my teacher about this and he recommends being able to do both. He's all about playing as relaxed as possible and he feels that you should use the rebound to your advantage when possible. I've seen him do doubles and they are very smooth (he's a great player with really clean technique). I think he let's the stick bounce but then uses his fingers to get the second stroke. Is that the proper way to do it? I've heard people say not to bounce the stick, but do they mean don't just let the stick bounce actually use your fingers for the second stroke? Or do they mean actually do two strokes?
So should you never bounce doubles?
