Early 50's Gretsch WMP Wrap Question For Experts

The WMP wrap on the bass drum of my early 50's Broadkaster kit does not match the pattern of the WMP wrap of the other three drums in the kit. The drums in my kit date from late 1949 to 1952. The bass drum is an early 52. I have seen other bass drums from 51 on eBay that also have the same wrap pattern as my bass drum.

I know for a fact that my drums were not rewrapped and the kit does not have any orphan drums. The person who sold me the kit knew the original owner and he showed me old photos and documentation that show the history of the kit from the beginning.

Does anyone have any insight into why the wrap is slightly different?
