Yamaha Detectives: Please Help Me Decode My Recording Customs...

samedi 16 mai 2015

I have the following drums in Cherry finish. They have "pre-yess" mounts and full-length Recording Custom-style lugs:

10" Tom: Model: TT-910RA Serial number KK

This is the only one that the Drum Vault had any information on by model look-up. It tells me it's a 9000 RA series, but it doesn't list Cherry as an available finish.

From the date code "KK", I'm guessing it was made in April of 1984???

12" Tom: Model: TT-912RC Serial Number HP3739

Drum Vault says: "Model Number Not Found". I'm guessing this drum was made September of 1981? And why would the model number not be found on the vault?

14" Tom: Model: TT-914RF Serial Number: IL-3869

Drum Vault says: "Model Number Not Found".

Date code suggests made in May of 1982???

Finally the 22" Kick Drum: Model BD922RF Serial Number: OZ-1425

Drum Vault says: "Model not found", Serial means December of 1988?

Questions: Why does the 10: Tom only have "KK" and no number after that for the serial number? Why is "Cherry" not listed for an option for the finish?

Do you think this set was "pieced together" as opposed to coming from the factory or shop like this? The finish on all the drums looks original and consistent with each other.
