Why do the pros use Roland PDX6 or 8 pads in their hybrid set ups?

I've got a SPD SX incorporated into my acoustic kit and, as well as the pads on the device, I want to use external triggers too. I've got a BT-1 and I've been researching what pad to get as well.

From watching YouTube kit tours, and other sources, I see that Karl Brazil, Andy Gangadeen and Beanie (from Rudimental on Jools Holland last night) all use PDX pads and not the posher Roland pads.

Anyone know why this is? Presumably they could get top-of-the-range Roland pads if they wanted them.

Is it coincidence?

I'd love to hear any opinions on this.
