I know it's a stupid question due to so many variables and I did do a search but found nothing.
I've been broke since 2009 but I finally have some extra cash. I don't want to do something foolish like save it for the next time the economy comes crashing down, I want to buy the best sounding drums on the market.
The kits I've played never sounded good, generally I assumed due to poor tuning.
I did play a Pearl Export kit that sounded fantastic compared to everything else I had played. I know it's not a high end kit so I'm assuming it can get much better.
That brings me to THE question. Is it all about the heads and tuning or does that "bearing edge and wood type" really have much to do with it.
I read all about bearing edges and wood until my eyes glaze over and I want to forget about drums and start playing the bass guitar :)
And, I don't give a crap how they look, I just want them so sound awesome.
One line replies like "Pearl Recording Custom/ end of thread" or "Mapex sucks" are fine. I'm just looking for a consensus from personal experience.
I will deal with cymbals at a later date. I own maybe a dozen and I'm not really happy with most of them.
Where is the "best kit" thread :)
