As a hard hitter, I break a great deal of gear from time to time. So, money-wise, hard hitting isn't suitable for me at the minute. Also, my band were discussing me playing too hard, and some things were said (thoughts I'd rather not mention), and so I need to play lighter.
My budget isn't huge, so I was wondering if there's any way I could develop my style to play lighter naturally. My band and I play Grunge and Hard Rock (I didn't think I would need to play quieter for that, but apparently so), and my cymbals are quite large, so a musical style change and buying new cymbals/drums is out of the equation.

How to naturally play quieter?
