When I write my drum parts for my bands songs I really try to write things that are creative and challenging. The problem sometimes is its hard as crap for me to remember all the variations of things that I write in a song. Eventually over time I'm able to commit it to memory. But sometimes that seems to take forever. Granted I do have a pretty crappy memory. Sometimes it really drives me nuts.
I write all of my drum parts out on music paper that way I don't forget anything. And I read the parts off the paper while were playing and while I'm practicing by myself until I commit it to memory. But like I said, sometimes it can take forever for me to commit it to memory for some reason.
I have no intention of ever dumbing down my drum parts just to make them easier for me to remember. I just wish they were easier for me to remember faster.
Anybody else have this problem? If so what are your super duper memory tricks that really help you out?
