Hey all from Japan!
I just picked up a Sakae Trilogy Kit in a 20x14 12x8 and 14x14 configuration. The bearing edges are rounded over with a 60 degree cut on the inside. I went on a trip to Tokyo and got to try them in person at a store. I was quite shocked at how resonant and how much sustain they had. I was expecting a very pre muffled sound since I thought the rounded edges would put a damper on the sustain. The drums are quite lightweight; the 12” tom weighs barely anything without the rims mount attached. They are round, punchy, and fat, with the sound being focused on the lows and mids, and less on the highs.
I can`t wait to get em to a studio to fully check them out, maybe sometime this weekend, i:ll be able to. Anyway, to anyone on here who wanted to check them out or have questions, let me know! I:ll be getting around to recording some sounds of them soon. Until then, here`s some pix
