Told to hit harder

So, we did a show last night and some of our friends did the sound, one of which is a drummer and the other is a guitarist is a cover band. Well after our set the guitarist told me I need to hit harder to make his mixing easier. The drummer who was helping has told me the same. The drummer btw has a history of demolishing cymbals.



I have told them that playing harder ruins my dynamics, I lose any finesse and get sloppy. My drums are still pretty loud and I would say I'm in the medium category on how hard I hit.



Has anyone else ever been told this?
